Helen Spencer-Oatey is Professor in the Centre for Applied  Linguistics at the University of Warwick, UK. Having worked in China for many  years, her main research interests are in intercultural education and  intercultural interaction. She managed HEFCE’s £4M Sino-UK e-Learning Programme  for 7 years, which led to the book e-Learning Initiatives in China. Pedagogy,  Policy and Culture (Hong Kong University Press, 2007). With colleagues, she has  developed online training courses (e.g. GlobalPeople@Work), which include  modules on international teamwork and international leadership. One of her  current projects is on ‘Academic and social integration on campus’ and to help  with this, she and Daniel Dauber have developed the Global Education Profiler  (GEP) – a diagnostic tool for both staff and students on perceptions and  experiences of internationalisation. This is now commercially available  worldwide via i-Graduate. She and her colleagues have also recently launched a  complementary online course, Working in Groups. Full details of these and other  resources (many of which are open access) can be found on their GlobalPeople  website.

主要内容
The world is becoming more global. Universities throughout the  world are internationalising, and both students and staff need to develop the  confidence and skills to function effectively in this environment. In this talk  I explore the following questions: 1. Why is culture important in international  projects? 2. How does culture impact on collaboration?
